Our Advent Assembly

We hope you enjoyed our Advent Assembly on Friday. The whole year group did an amazing job!

Here are some pictures of our stars this week.

We also enjoyed 'busy fingers' this week.  Activities that improve our fine motor skills are really important.

Animals and their Young Ones

This week we read Owl Babies and used this text to help us learn more about animals and their young ones. http://youtu.be/fk7cQUFVyTk
Please ask us if we remember what we call a baby fish, young monkey or baby mouse.
We also had a talk explaining how to play with our new 'Builders Shed' and then used it to build some awesome things.
We have also been exploring ordering numbers, counting and sorting.
We made paper chain snakes and we have loved playing 'teachers'.

Maths Fun Day

Last week we enjoyed looking at two step patterns and we read stories about zoo animals. We painted our own zoo animals and built zoos in the play dough. Outside we enjoyed building houses with the giant waffle blocks. On Friday 10th we had a special visitor for Maths fun day. He was very funny and taught us lots of things about shapes.

End of Our First Half Term

Congratulations to all the children (and parents) for making it through the first half term. It was lovely to see some of the grandparents and parents at the tea party on Thursday. It was a brilliant end to our topic and we all look forward to next half term.

The topic will be Dear Zoo. Please don't forget to bring a cuddly Zoo animal to school with you, along with your Zoo ticket (sent home in book bags on Thursday).

Our Family

This week we have been thinking about our families. We looked at the family photos we brought in and looked at Nick Butterworth's books about family. We enjoyed 'My Dad is Brilliant'. We wrote an invite to our Grandparent's tea party, did you see it in the window? We have been focusing on the tricky word 'to' when writing our invites.
We have been becoming experts at using the resources in the classroom during Child Initiated learning. Look at what we have been doing:
